Before you buy a DTF printer: what to check
A DTF setup is a serious investment, and machines in Ghana range from converted desktop printers to production units. Know exactly what you're getting.
Ask exactly what's in the package. Powder shaker, dryer or oven, starter ink, film, powder and design software can all be extras. A cheap headline price may be printer only.
Ask which print heads it uses and what replacements cost. Heads wear out. Know the head model (for example XP600 or i1600), its price and whether it's stocked locally.
Ask for training and setup. DTF has a learning curve. A seller who installs the machine and shows you how to run it is worth paying a little more for.
Work out your running costs first. Film, ink and powder are ongoing costs. Ask the seller for consumable prices before you buy the machine.
See it print before you pay. Ask for a test print transferred onto a shirt, and wash-test it if you can.
Plan for power. Ask about power consumption and protect the machine with a stabiliser or UPS.
