Are the L3250, L3251 and L3252 different printers?
No. Epson's own specifications for the L3250, L3251 and L3252 are identical: same print speed, same scanner, same Wi-Fi, same ink. The model numbers exist for different regions, retailers and packaging. For example, Epson's Middle East and Africa version of the L3252 comes with less ink in the box than the L3250.
- L3256 is the same printer in a white body.
- L3260 adds a 3.7cm colour screen, so you can work it without the phone app.
So when you compare prices, treat the L3250, L3251 and L3252 as the same machine and ask how much ink is included.
What does the L3350 add?
The L3350 is a newer, redesigned model rather than a variant:
- Slightly faster: 11 pages a minute in black and 6 in colour (ISO), against 10 and 5.
- Smaller body with a curved, extending paper tray.
- User-replaceable maintenance box, the part that collects waste ink. On older models, a full waste pad usually means a trip to a technician.
- Print head rated to 50,000 pages in Epson's warranty terms, against 30,000 for the L3250.
- Phone printing through AirPrint and Mopria without extra apps.
Epson's Middle East site suggests up to 800 pages a month for the L3350.
Which ink does each take in Ghana?
This catches people out. Epson sells different ink codes by region:
- Epson 103: the official ink for models sold in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, which is Ghana's region.
- Epson 003: for the same printers sold in Asia. Many units in Ghanaian shops are Asian imports and take 003.
The bottles look alike but aren't interchangeable. Before you buy, check the model code on the box or ask the seller which ink it takes, and make sure that ink is easy to buy near you. See current printer ink prices.
Is either right for an office?
Both print, copy and scan in colour, which suits homes, students and small offices. Neither has a document feeder or automatic two-sided printing, and both are slower than a laser printer. If you print mostly black and white documents in volume, compare them against laser printers in our printer prices and read ink tank vs laser before deciding.
Before you pay
Before you buy a printer: what to check
A cheap printer can be expensive to own. A few minutes of checking now saves money every month afterwards.
Check the cost of ink or toner, not just the printer. Find the cartridge or bottle it uses, look up its price and how many pages it prints, and work out the cost per page.
Match the printer to what you print. Mostly black and white documents suit a laser printer; colour, photos and mixed use suit an ink tank. Need to scan and copy too? Get an all-in-one.
Make sure it's genuine and new. Ask whether the box is sealed and whether the starter ink or toner is included. Prices far below other sellers are a warning sign.
Ask about the warranty and who honours it. Keep the receipt and check whether the seller or a local service partner handles repairs.
Check how you'll connect. USB only, or Wi-Fi and phone printing? Confirm before buying if several people will share it.
If it will sit unused for weeks, think twice about inkjet. Ink can dry in the print head. A laser printer copes better with occasional use.
