What do all three have in common?
According to Canon's specifications, all three:
- print, copy, scan and send in black and white up to A3, with fax as an option
- have a two-sided automatic document feeder for copying and scanning stacks of pages
- print both sides automatically
- hold 1,200 sheets of A4 as standard, expandable to 2,300
- connect by network cable and Wi-Fi, with a 7-inch colour touchscreen
That's a big step up from smaller copiers like the Canon iR 2425i, which holds 330 sheets as standard.
2630i vs 2930i: old and new at the same speed
The 2630i belongs to Canon's older imageRUNNER 2600 series; the 2930i is its replacement in the current 2900 series. Both print 30 pages a minute. The newer 2930i uses C-EXV 67 toner rated at about 33,000 pages, against about 30,000 for the 2630i's C-EXV 59.
When the older model is still sold new, it's worth it only if the price is noticeably lower. Ask the seller how long they'll keep supplying its toner and parts.
When is the 2945i worth paying more for?
The 2945i prints 45 pages a minute, half as fast again as the 2930i, and its larger 100-sheet feeder scans both sides of a stack at up to 70 pages a minute. For a school printing thousands of exam papers in a week or a print shop with queues, that speed saves real time. For an office printing steadily but not urgently, the 2930i is usually enough.

Before you pay
Before you buy a photocopier: what to check
An office copier is one of the most expensive things a small business buys, and the price on the listing is rarely the whole story. Ask these before you pay anything.
Get a written quote that lists everything included. Document feeder, stand or cabinet, starter toner, delivery, installation and network setup can each add hundreds or thousands of cedis. Compare like with like.
Ask who services it, and how fast. A copier will need a technician at some point. Ask who will come, how quickly, what a call-out costs, and whether there's a service contract.
Check the toner is easy to find in Ghana, and what it costs. Toner is your biggest running cost. Find the toner code, check local prices and work out the cost per page before you commit.
Ask about the warranty, in writing. What it covers (parts, labour, drum), for how long, and who honours it: the seller, or the manufacturer's local partner.
For a used or refurbished machine, see the page counter. Ask the seller to show the total count on screen or print a counter report. A high count means expensive parts are due soon.
See it working before you pay. Make test copies from the glass and the document feeder, try every tray and check for streaks or smudges.
Never pay a deposit for a machine you haven't seen. Especially on marketplace listings. Pay at the seller's premises, against a receipt.
